We arrive at DUB later than scheduled. The high winds created a great amount of turbulence and the pilot had to make a few attempts before he could safely land. We got our luggage without problems, well without any major problems, my hard shell Heys suitcase as a big crack in it.

Christian, our driver, meets us and provides lots of information about Dubrovnik on our way to the Airbnb we will be staying. Our host is waiting for us with a bottle of wine. The apartment is cute and great location. It will be a wonderful home during our stay here.

We spend some time getting organized and freshening up before we head out. Our first stop is to a local grocery mart to pick up some breakfast food. After returning to our apartment to put away the groceries we venture to Old Town.

The beauty of it is difficult to describe. Old Town is fortified with city walls which were built in the 10th century. The streets are busy with the hustle and bustle of many tourists and locals.

We spend our time walking around in awe of the beauty and history that surrounds us. We visited the Serbian Orthodox Church (built from 1865 – 1877, Church of St Blaise (St Blaise is the patron Saint of Dubrovnik) and the Church of St. Nicholas (has a painting of the Madonna from the 13th century). These churches are all worth the visit. Photography is not allowed so you will have to come and visit!

After our Church tours we walk down near the port to enjoy a late supper at Poklisar – some bread with fish pate, delicious pizza (huge Italian influence here) and a great local beer Ozjusko.

We return to our apartment (so many stairs to our place, we can eat and drink whatever we want – burning lots of calories!) A great start to our holiday.
